Pet Holiday Safety Tips
November 9, 2015
The holidays are right around the corner, which means everyone is gearing up for all kinds of seasonal celebrations. What many people tend not to think about in the midst of the holiday chaos, are all of the potential hazards your pets are being exposed to.
It is important for owners to be extra mindful of the various toxic food, plants and decorations their pets can get into. Holiday decorations such as tinsel or ornaments can be ingested by your pet causing an obstruction in their intestines that requires surgical removal. Taking special care in not feeding your pet table scraps or any sweets is also especially important, as some ingredients can cause gastrointestinal upset or are potentially toxic, such as chocolate and xylitol.
Nobody wants to add a trip to the emergency vet to their to-do list during this busy time of year. Ensuring your pets stay healthy and safe will help to guarantee a happy holiday season for the whole family.
